SMS dari Erwin, adik saya: "Mn bs gw buka intnet, kan gempa. Warnet ge tarutup"
SMS dari saya: "Hah, Bandung gempa. Sorry gw ga tahu. Tar gw browse aja dari JKT."
Sudah beberapa hari saya off dari kantor. Sehingga saya terakhir kali buka email tgl 25 sore.
Ketika belakangan baru tahu, saya tiba2 panik. Sehari, saya rata2 saya buka email lebih dari 5x. Internet manteng selama saya duduk di meja kerja. Google sudah menjadi perpustakaan pribadi saya. How can I live without them? Apa reaksi saya berlebihan? Rasanya gak.

The gym Aa played
The controversy over the 2nd marriage of the noted moslem preacher AA Gym still continues. A conversation with some friends few days ago brought facts that this topic easily enters many events of our today lives. A chat over cubicles in the office may lead into polygamy, the ulemas certainly discuss it on their preachs over and over, television debates, even into speeches of board of directors. Not to mention the PP 10 that will be strengthened, as SBY (or Ibu Anie) commanded. The game (pronounced: gim) Aa played has become a national topic.
Apologies if I use the terminology “game” that might take the pros out of their comfort zone. But indeed, I feel enough with the reasoning of sunnah.
I do not mean to extend the controversy but I only wished he could reconsidered his action as he’s a noted ulema who can cross multi culture as well as multi religion. At least he should think about the trust he gained from them, especially the trust that people from different religion gave. Moreover, this act has broadened impression that Islam condones discrimination. Oh well… ;( I am sooo disappointed.
Anyhow, the opinion that Koran’s interpretation is dominated by male point of view is worth contemplating. Besides, the interpretation of hadist should be in accordance with fitrah.
On a religion discussion session yesterday, a friend o mine who graduated from pesantren gave his opinion about polygamy. He said polygamy must be place proportionally. To be honest, I almost slept when he spoke. Especially when later he shared a story about his own experience.
His mother was a second wife. According to him, the reason of the second marriage because his father is not satisfied of the “iman” of the first wife (o, yeah…). The marriage was supported by his father’s family but held secretly form the first wife. Later when she found out, he and his other siblings experienced a terrible childhood where terror from the first wife and her children were addressed towards them. Well, it’s not only happened during childhood but it was until his father passed away. I failed to understand why on his conclusion, he said proudly that the children of the first wife were “on the street” whilst finally he and his siblings become respected citizens ( I mean…professional…go to the office…be ‘somebody’). Does he think that the reason of this is ONLY the “iman” of the first wife? Why he doesn’t take another way of view around that this is an example why people shouldn’t practice polygamy. Why he didn’t ask his father why he failed to groom his first wife’s “iman” and why his father didn’t choose to divorce her than to marry again SECRETLY. Well, I simply do not get his point!
The discussion ended with the same condition: pros and contras. Outside, the debate is not ended yet. Perhaps it won’t.
P.S: Saya lagi melatih english writing nih..jadi maaf ya kalao banyak ketidaksempurnaan ;)
